Anathema Device from Good Omens; primarily the TV show version, but not incompatible with book canon. She's a practical occultist, raised in a (very rich) family of witches in Los Angeles, whose primary duty is to shepherd their precognitive ancestor's prophecies into existence, and attempt to avert the apocalypse in doing so. Anathema is cheerful, pragmatic, straightforward, and fairly matter-of-fact even about mortifying things like centuries of family members scrutinising prophecies about her love life.
first impressions.
Visible Age: Early 20s
Height: 5'7"
Physique: Slight and willowy
Hair: Long, thick, wavy black hair. Sometimes pulled back into a bun to keep it out of the way.
Eyes: Brown, and near-sighted
Defining Marks: A smattering of freckles and beauty marks on her face, otherwise no
Accent/Speech: Clipped and precise, American, with a slight hint of a Puerto-Rican accent
Bearing/Demeanor: Quick and efficient and impatient, as if she can’t bear wasting any time. Walks briskly wherever she goes. Can be pretty languorous and casual when relaxing, though; doesn’t mind getting all up in your space or suddenly dropping onto a seat riiiight next to you.
ic permissions.
Touching/hugging: She’s physically demonstrative thanks to a large, sprawling, touchy-feely and affectionate family, so yes.
Kissing: Yes! She probably kisses you on both cheeks to say hello, sorry not sorry.
Flirting: She’s a bit too blunt and matter-of-fact to be super good at flirting, but give it a shot anyway.
Shipping: Open to both casual hookups or feelsy ships in PSLs and memes, either f/m or f/f. I play Anathema as bi with a slight leaning towards women, and her post-canon relationship with Newt not having lasted and their becoming friends instead (‘together ye sharle be, untyl the Ende that is to come’).
Fighting: Sure
Injuring: Sure, with discussion
Killing: No thanks, unless planned
Telepathy/mind reading: Go for it! She’s mildly psychic, so my only stipulation is that she’ll probably sense it happening and might have some defenses (but I’m always open to discuss / roll with what’s best for the scene).
ooc permissions.
Backtagging: Super happy to backtag! Fair warning, I can be v slow, but I will pretty much backtag into forever no matter how long it's been.
Threadhopping: Generally no, unless it's an open network conversation.
Fourthwalling: No thanks.
Writing style: Default to prose, but happy to match brackets.
Offensive subjects / opt-out: None really, for myself or Anathema. Good Omens deals with religious subjects with a teasing air and tongue-in-cheek attitude, but it probably won't come up as much with her.
Anathema has the canonical ability to read people’s auras:
She was quite an expert on auras. She could see them, if she stared hard enough. They were a little glow of light around people’s heads, and according to a book she’d read the colour told you things about their health and general well-being. Everyone had one. In mean-minded, closed-in people they were a faint, trembling outline, whereas expansive and creative people might have one extending several inches from the body.
So if you’re interacting with Anathema quite a bit, it’d be super helpful if you could leave a comment with the following:
Obv this will also vary based on the scene and other characters’ state of mind during, but just as a general guideline! Even if people haven’t filled this out, I might check in with you during scenes to see what she’ll be able to ‘read’ off your character.
If you're having trouble thinking of a colour, here are some ideas (but don't feel like you need to stick to this either, and it's fine if your idea doesn't match that particular description; I'm more interested in your thoughts about it!).

? How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? lilith has a big aura. whilst she very tightly controls her emotions and expressing them she feels a lot. mostly she focuses towards survival and strength with some distrust/hate towards men thrown in depending on who. she's very rational and in tune with herself and what's around her
? If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? go for it baby

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? If an aura can somehow be cryptic, that's probably his.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Yes !! He's the humansona of the Void, so his aura is probably similar-ish to the Four Horsemen? Look, whatever's fun

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Klaus has a pretty big personality so I imagine he has an aura to match.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Not that there's anything unusual about him, specifically, but he probably has more than one ghost following him around in Jeopardy.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? It's noticeable. She's made of wrath because she's mad about a lot of things.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? She's got cosmic alien energy in her, thanks to the mind stone in her canon (
though her powers have that red appearance to them, which not so subtly implies reality powers but we probably won't see that in the MCU until Strange 2 and the Disney+ series. sighs impatiently).no subject
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Extremely big! He radiates light like the sun, both metaphorically and literally (though in the case of the latter, he doesn't realize he's glowing). His biggest emotion/vibe is an extreme lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, which is a shame because if it weren't for his self-worth, he would have so, so much to offer the world.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? sure! Lester would read more as 'something magical stuck in a mortal's body' than a straight up non-human, beyond that, go wild

Brandon: a rich blue (think a particularly deep shade of daytime sky)
Wolfwood: a sort of baked orange-brown (think desert rocks)
Norman: grey (it's grey)
? How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most?
Brandon: Brandon feels things very deeply, despite those stoic expressions and frequent refusal to talk. He cares a lot about people. Except himself, he thinks very little of himself. His aura might shrink or expand depending on whether he's interacting with or helping other people or he's more or less on his own.
Wolfwood: Wolfwood's a pragmatic altruist who's just trying to figure out what he can do for people here and then...do it. He's relatively at peace with himself these days so his aura might be generally relaxed, but he can get worked up easily and would also shut down somewhat if his past became a topic.
Norman: Norman keeps himself very determinedly and tightly controlled. He's the kind of person who turns his emotional reactions into methodical plans and puts up fronts very easily. That being said, he is at heart driven by caring very much. His aura's probably pretty close to him but will sometimes expand in bursts.
All three of them have tendencies towards tunnel-vision, if that's a factor.
? If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result?
Brandon: n/a
Norman: n/a
Wolfwood: So although Wolfwood's entirely human, he has been experimented on and as a result his appearance doesn't match his reality (he looks to be in his late 20s, is actually in his late teens). I'm not sure if that would turn up here, but if you think it would it's fair game!

Tartan. It's definitely tartan.I imagine it's probably a weird shift of colors, lots of golds and ambers, warmer colors in general.→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? It big. And generally, the angel is very emotional so whatever he's going through he wears his heart on his sleeve and probably in his aura as well. By default? Warm, cheerful, trusting with a big old side order of anxiety.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Yup. He's an angel. She knows him. And he's not hiding at all anymore in this place. :)

→ What colour might be associated with your character?
Bright lemon-yellow: Struggling to maintain power and control in a personal or business relationship; fear of losing control, prestige, respect, and/or power. Seems sunny and bright and powerful at times, but otherwise hazy with a muddy grey overlay, shot through with self-doubt.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most?
When he's around his family*, it's large and thriving; expansive, confident. Out in public and around strangers, though, it retreats until it's tiny and like the embodiment of a shrinking violet.
* except Vanya. Around her, it's an angry panicky squiggle.

Diego Hargreeves
→ What colour might be associated with your character? A constant, wide breadth of muddied red because he processes so much and reflects it back out as anger; Black edges connecting to long-term lack of forgiveness toward his father and unprocessed grief, both for his father and his ex-girlfriend/best friend; dark green for insecurity
Fluctuations at various times might include indigo for sensitivity/dark&muddy blue in high-emotional times.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Anger and insecurity are definitely the huge ones with him, because his insecurities influence almost every single thing about him in one way or another, and he reflects all of that out into the world as various stage of anger/annoyance/irritation/etc... because it's the easiest emotion for him to handle and deal with, despite being a v. emotional person (secretly, and reluctantly, he hates it, thanks~)
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? This doesn't exactly apply, but I definitely think, especially right now while he's still in the learning-how-to-deal stages of controlling his empathic abilities, it might just get really muddy/confusing/a ball of WTF?! for her because he is constantly taking in other people's emotions on top of his own. I'm open to that being processed for her however you see fit.
Becks Atherton
→ What colour might be associated with your character? Becks' constants include rainbow edges around her hands b/c her healing powers; dirty gray overlay b/c she is always guarded, even when she seems the very opposite; big piece of orange in her aura for creativity, adventure, extrovertedness, and courage; deep red for how solid and grounded she is in her life choices as well as being an absolute survivalist
Her most likely fluctuations could be black edges or flecks in her aura for past things being dredged up and bothering her or dark and muddy blues for fear of how much of a future she doesn't actually have/the fact that it was ripped from her for her choices, even if she'd never change those choices for the world; dark yellow gold if she's struggling with accepting that she's super dead back home.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? I think Becks' is overall probably pretty big and balanced. She's pretty sure of herself, her place in the world, who she is, etc... Her biggest vibe would probably just be that of an adventurous social butterfly.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? I doubt there's much to be said here since, porter-granted abilities aside, Becks is only a normal squishy human!
no subject
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? It's fairly healthy and bright, sometimes bright enough to shine past the black aura. When he's happy or delighted in something it might shine past, giving the black a halo of bright blue. Otherwise the black will overshadow the blue.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? As you know, Ben has portals/Eldritch Horrors under his skin. I like to think that this will take an aura form of a black blob around him, with four tentacles reaching and wagging off his aura. This tends to be a steady shape and doesn't grow or diminish (unless he summons them and then it grows substantially in size). While his own Aura can be seen sometimes it gives off more a halo effect around the body of the black aura and does not follow the tentacles.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Big and militant. He's the sort of guy who's very businesslike, moving forward and ready and willing to get shit done. Sometimes it'll manifest with pure white bolts of electricity that are insecure. It's infrequent but when it happens it's bright and very real.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? in our TDM thread she got a glimpse of his inhuman selfish sort of thing and if she wants to keep that I'm good mostly because he got to keep his more militant abilities and honestly being reminded by somebody that he's got something to worry about because pesky feelings would get in the way of him hiding and being terrible so.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? She's got a good healthy aura, and quite a bright one. Jane doesn't take any pains to hide the kind of person that she is. As for how 'big' I would say just... average? If there's such a thing?
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? n/a :>

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? VERY BIG. not necessarily healthy lol. Very warm and genuinely kind. Highly energetic. But she crashes hard in mood so goes :) to sobbing hysterically I'm so sorry
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? She is human but after thousands of years in Heaven and being ~special human~ it's possible something seems off about her.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? "Healthy" is kind of a win-some/lose-some concept for Ruka here. Her general spiritual/magical health is leagues better than her physical health — she's got Ambiguously Sickly Little Sister Disease, meaning sometimes she just has heart failure or passes out as the plot demands. Some of her magical ability specifically activates when she's in danger, some of it will persist even if she's comatose, and some of it will straight up kill her to use! It's a bad battery set-up. Anathema is more than welcome to pick up on the disparity.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Human with Divine Protection™ — her supernatural abilities are derived from a star that is also a god, because sure. Anime!!
or tl;dr:
red: stubborn, strong will-power, heart-oriented, anger, survivalist, compassionate, unforgiving, etc
gold: divine power + """higher calling"""
black: unforgiving nature, compound grief, and low-key dying at all times

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? These days, his aura is growing slowly, and becoming slowly more powerful. MoMverse cut it down some, but it has been growing here. And as for healthy. It is, now. It might show signs that it has been damaged and sick before? But he is happy in MoMverse, mostly. And most of the time, calm and curiosity, plus a desire to defend others are the main things that he exudes. At the party, sadness is tinging it, but also determination.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? And yes. Definitely. He is not a normally born being, but born of destiny, called a Starborn. And while he does not have the power that comes with that, the nature is still there. Of course, also, while he does not have the Soulgaze here, normally he can see into others' souls and they into his.
If she is particularly sensitive that day, she might catch an image of a second him inside him, representative of his highly powerful imagination which has constructed a more confident him in his mind to talk to.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Adam, himself, is not a loud person, but perhaps with how his abilities work he's rather loud with his aura. There's that sense of survival, anger that creeps along the edges that he's constantly aware of himself, but doesn't know others can tell. First meeting it will be on the outer edges, not overwhelming, but within the last few weeks or so, it'll be more apparent he's holding some anger, and holding back a lot of pain.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? She'll notice there's a slight green aura around him -- which has nothing to with him in general but it's there. Something sort of mystical, fresh like the outdoors but unexplained.

Deep red: Grounded, realistic, active, strong will-power, survival-oriented
Dark or muddy blue: Fear of the future; fear of self-expression; fear of facing or speaking the truth.
A little bit of lavender for imagination and daydreaming.
And some dirty gray overlay for blocking energies and guarded-ness.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most?
Declan is a survivor and he survives by guarding himself. By becoming background noise. His aura is probably as suppressed as it can be: he makes it a point not to stand out, to be forgettable. But he can't hide everything, and if someone pays attention, they'll notice little things about him that reveal there's a personality under there somewhere.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result?
IDK if this counts, as Declan is not particularly extraordinary himself, but he's the son of a dreamer.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? It's surprisingly big, healthy and bright for someone with such a bad attitude about literally everything. It also seems to "hum" with a certain frequency, and doing the math will reveal that frequency equates to pi.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? She could definitely pick up that something's Not Right about Luke's aura (but without an Asch around to compare, would probably have a hard time figuring out why).

Dark gray most of the time, like good, solid rock. When struck by stronger emotions it trends a bit toward deep ochre. When upset, unsure, or nervous, toward obsidian shades of black. Mostly, just think rock tones.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most?
Tight and controlled unless he's somehow worked up. When angry or flustered it does spread more, but still has mostly contained edges. When angry it flares more unevenly.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Is human, but his aura has flickers of fire to it, from his pyrokinetic abilities.
Note related only to the Fractured World AU:
Rude would have been in Olin Vale for three years, and his aura would have started to trend more toward greener shades of gray. Upon his replacement, he'd wake up with his aura right back to the dark gray that is the MoM default above, tinged with some darkness of confusion and concern. And it might be suspicious for him to flash back so much so suddenly.

A malignant, colourless grey. Martin is actively infested by a fragment of the Lonely, which is an eldritch god of ... well, Loneliness.
→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most?
It's partially smothering him at the moment, though not completely. Definitely not healthy. Looking at it too closely might result in briefly forgetting that Martin is there in the first place.
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result?
Absolutely! Martin is human (probably) but that eldritch influence isn't.

→ How big & ‘healthy’ is their aura? Is there any overarching emotion/vibe that they would exude most? Probably pretty large, the things that make her good at being a Jedi seem like they'd lead to a fairly healthy aura. THough weirdly the main vibe is probably impatience :p
→ If your character is non-human or a magical being, can she sense that there’s something unusual about their aura as a result? Go right ahead and notice the Force connection
